Bracing & Taping
Orthopaedic Bracing
The main purpose of a brace is to provide a protective mechanism to an injured or unstable joint (torn ligaments) or as a corrective device to improve alignment of perhaps the kneecap or to decrease pain, and increase mobility by ‘off loading’ an arthritic joint.
Not every condition needs a brace, your Doctor and/or physiotherapist will determine if a brace is needed.
We can provide custom made or off the shelf braces as necessary, for most joints of the body (Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Lumbar region, Pelvis, Knee and Ankle). Proper fitting of the brace is required and this can be done during a physiotherapy session.
We use only good quality and reputable brands.
Therapeutic Taping
There are various types of tape that can be applied to the skin in order to gain a variety of therapeutic affects. Taping can be used to provide stability to an injured joint or structure allowing for decrease pain and inflammation; it can maintain physiotherapy treatment changes by providing neuromuscular biofeedback to assist you in maintaining alignment correction. It can also improve joint proprioception and can be used to prevent injuries.
